Chelsea sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester for £50m

Chelsea have completed the signing of Ben Chilwell, England left-back, from Leicester in a deal thought to be worth around £50 million and on a five-year deal.

The Blues took to its social media platforms on Wednesday to announce the arrival of the player who the club have been pursuing for a number of months.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea paid Leicester the sum of £50 million to convince them to part with one of their prized assets.

“I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club. I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honours next season,” the 27-year-old told the club’s website.

“I can’t wait to get started and hopefully it won’t be long before we’re playing in front of the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge.”

Chilwell becomes the latest player to arrive Stamford Bridge, joining the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, who have already signed from Ajax and RB Leipzig, respectively.

The England international is one of the most established full-backs in the Premier League, having made over 120 appearances for Leicester City since his debut as an 18-year-old back in October 2015.

Chelsea secured fourth position and a Champions League spot at the expense of Leicester on the final day of the Premier League season.
